The Whisky Advisor
Branding
Smell, Swirl, and Sip
The Whisky Advisor is a business by solopreneur Uday Balaji. He curates experiences for the liquor – like guided tours, sessions, the process of manufacturing whisky, and community activities.

Uday also provides certifications, holds trainings, and consults in the liquor industry. He approached us for a rebrand of his company, and Truetype worked on the logo and merchandising for the same.
For the new identity system, we created a modern wordmark with an edgy blackletter. This helped to make a more future-ready, robust, and minimal wordmark. Whereas, the logo represents a whisky glass and inside it, a barn of crops seen as the leaf-like elements.
Along with a strutctured sans serif for all the communications, we used the script font for his collaterals to add a more personal touch to the identity – which is actually what the business is about – Uday’s community and a small batch of people who get his undivided attention on the guided tours as well as consultations.
Inspired by the whisky glass typically seen in Uday’s hands during tours and sessions, Truetype also created a graphic language which is representative of a ‘swirl’ and can be seen in images, gradients, and other elements.
