Oops
Typeface Design
From a shelved project to a display typeface
Oops is an experimental display typeface by Truetype, built around one simple idea: not everything needs to be fixed. It takes familiar letterforms and introduces a distinct capped curve at the top, inspired by what we call the “lid.” That shape gives the typeface its identity. It feels slightly unexpected and unconventional, yet balanced enough to hold its ground in bold, expressive settings.
The typeface emerged while we were closing a shelved project. In a draft file from that project, a small irregularity in the forms caught our attention. Instead of correcting it, we developed it. The same “lid” that marked the end of one project became the defining feature of this one.
Oops is a display font with a clear visual language shaped by that capped form. Its character comes from embracing the irregularity and building a consistent system around it.
